Past and present Honeoye Falls-Lima school staff were on hand to see Norm Schueckler, a retired HF-L math teacher at the Middle School and coach of the Girls and Boys Swim teams, inducted into the Section V Executive Hall of Fame on October 7 at Wildwood Country Club in Rush.
Schueckler was one of three people inducted into the Executive Hall of Fame this year along with Shirley Bowen (longtime Athletic Administrator in the Churchville-Chili, East Irondequoit and Brighton School Districts) and Doreen Martin (longtime AD at Scio Central).
Schueckler served as the Section V Girls Swimming and Diving Coordinator for over 10 years. He also served as league coordinator in both the Livingston County Athletic Association and Monroe County Public Schools Athletic Conference, while coaching both the girls and boys swimming and diving teams at HF-L.
Section V Executive Director Kathy Hoyt (an HF-L graduate) shared these remarks during Schueckler’s induction. “As shared in one of his nomination letters, ‘Norm’s professionalism is very evident when it comes time to manage a sectional or state championship meet. The meet runs with great efficiency, right down to the smallest detail. There is no one better at running a championship meet other than Norm Schueckler’. Schueckler has served as the meet director for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls Swimming and Diving Championships for the past three years at the Webster Aquatic Center.
Among those celebrating Schueckler’s induction were retired athletic administrative assistant Joy Jennejohn and current athletic administrative assistant Hannah Dineen, retired HF-L Middle School Principal Garce Reed, retired HF-L Athletic Directors Tom Flood (who hired Schueckler as HF-L Swimming and Diving Coach) and Brian Donohue, current HF-L Athletic Director Ed Orman, retired Middle School Physical Education teacher and HF-L athletic trainer Renee Davis, current HF-L girls and boys swim coach Ari Freedman-Weiss, HF-L School District Superintendent Gene Mancuso and retired HF-L Middle School Physical Education teacher and longtime HF-L Cross Country Running, Nordic Ski and Boys Track coach Bernie Gardner (who was inducted in the Section V Executive Hall of Fame last year after serving as the Nordic Ski Coordinator for many years).
