June 5th marked opening day for Scottsville’s Midweek Farmers’ Market. Each Wednesday through September 25th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, locally raised meats and eggs, baked goods, plants and more take over the parking lot of the American Legion on Main Street. Vendors are joined by area community groups that serve meals (hot dogs, BBQ) as well as set-up information tables for shoppers.
At the June 5th market, the Wheatland Department of Recreation was on hand to register kids for its annual summer camp at Johnson Park. A craft activity was also available for kids. And to celebrate the start of another season, paintable shopping bags were available for donation of $10.
The June 12th market will feature pet adoption; June 19th will test market-goers’ knowledge of historical trivia with the Wheatland Historical Association; June 26th will feature live music by Eric Trumpowski. Each week additionally features a children’s activity at 4:30 and a weekly gift basket drawing. To learn more about vendors and opportunities for involvement, follow the Midweek Farmers’ Market on Facebook.
