As part of the Honeoye Falls-Lima Fall Weekend, Deb & Tim Smith will be hosting a slide show presentation on the 50th anniversary of the merger of the Lima and Honeoye Falls school district. If you’ve followed their work in the Sentinel you may know that the Smiths are in a unique position to discuss the merger.
In 8th grade Deb was a Lima Indian and Tim was a Honeoye Falls Hornet. The merger occurred in between 8th and 9th grade for them, so they were part of the first class to spend all four years as Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars.
Deb and Tim will discuss the events leading up to the merger, as well as share some interesting and funny stories about events that took place during the new district’s early years. One of our favorites is the story of how the district adopted its new nickname and school colors.
There will be two presentations on October 5, one at 2:00 pm and one at 3:00 pm in Room 126 of the high school. The Smiths hope to see you there.
