It’s not the most traditional pairing that we’ve ever written about, but it may be something you’d consider cuddling up with. And the alliterative allure of the event’s title is an absolute stroke of literary genius. What is this event to which we allude? Why it would be “Whiskeys & Whiskers,” the second occurrence of a collaboration between Pet Pride and Iron Smoke Distillery.

Let’s identify the participants in this gala which will take place Tuesday, October 29th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Iron Smoke Distillery. Pet Pride would be the no-kill cat sanctuary and adoption center located at 7731 Victor Mendon Road and Iron Smoke Distillery is a top-shelf whiskey distillery located at 75 North Main Street in Fairport.

The distillery will be decked out to the nines in its most festive Halloween holiday fashion. And the “nines” are definitely wild in writing about this event. We have the host decked out to the 9’s, on the 29th, to celebrate the animal known to have 9 lives!

You can enjoy a slideshow of adorable adoptable cats while being entertained by the lead singer of Walt O’Brien of the group Inside Out who will be singing and playing acoustic guitar at the event. You can also take your chance on going home as the winner of one of the raffle baskets that will be up for grabs.

The cover is a $5 suggested donation and guests can enjoy Marge’s Meow-tastic Whiskey Flight Tasting for $10. The first Whiskeys & Whiskers event last May helped raise $1300 for the furry feline initiative with over 70 people in attendance.

Having written about Pet Pride previously, we already had a handle on their story. By the way, that place can be a dangerous visit, as we came home with not only a new story, but also a new cat named Jet Black who happens to be lying in between us on our desk as we compose this.

But we’d never heard of Iron Smoke Distillery before so we gave them a call and just asked them what they’re all about. We had an entertaining and educational conversation with their Marketing Communications Manager Ren. She explained that they distill, age, and bottle multiple varieties of whiskey on site and distribute their product all along the eastern seaboard.

They refer to their full-service tavern as a “Watering Room” which is open 6 days a week and features a traditional concert stage with live music. Tours are available by appointment and can be requested through their website which is a fun trip in and of itself.

So what better way to spend next Tuesday evening than by enjoying a casual, fun and relaxing time while you take in some live music, explore an actual whiskey distillery, and benefit our fine furry feline friends.
