Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced that the County’s Department of Environmental Services (DES) is hosting a joint Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection in conjunction with the Towns of Gates, Chili, Wheatland, and Riga, as well as the Villages of Scottsville and Churchville. The collection is taking place at the Town of Gates Highway Garage located at 475 Trabold Road, on Saturday, September 17th from 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
“Local governments within Monroe County have a long history of collaborating to benefit residents,” said Dinolfo. “By offering a household hazardous waste collection out in the community, we are bringing essential services close to home while encouraging recycling and raising awareness. I hope that residents take advantage of the program during this fall-cleaning season and set aside items to be properly recycled.”
To ensure safety and reduce waiting times, appointments are being taken until Friday, September 16th and are required for all HHW collections. To schedule an appointment, please call the Town of Gates at 429-8243.
Arrangements can also be made on-line at www.monroecounty.gov/hhw. This collection is open to all MonroeCounty residents. Waste from businesses will not be accepted.
