It is final! Honeoye Falls will be opening their very own Dunkin Donuts as of early December! After much debate and conflict, the mayor and the village of Honeoye Falls approved the building of the drive-thru facility. The process was most definitely a long one due to the previous restrictions on drive-thru businesses.
The majority of HF-L’ers have responded positively to the new eatery. Many are excited to simply just have a new place to eat, since the village is very limited in its options. Will this new business have as much success as everyone claims? From speaking to Mayor Richard Milne, it is sounding as if the Dunkin Donuts will for sure have a positive influence on the village. Milne stated how the addition of this facility will provide local community members with another option, especially for early- risers who need a quick coffee stop. He also stated that Dunkin will offer job opportunities for the community.
Although most are ecstatic about the new addition, some have also voiced their concerns. One concern heard from many was that it will affect HFMP and other local businesses negatively. Milne disagrees. He does not believe that Dunkin Donuts will have a prominent effect on any businesses especially HFMP. He stated that, personally, he believes people will still go to the HFMP bakery often for the better home-made quality of pastries.
According to Mayor Milne, the process to have Dunkin Donuts approved was an extremely long and drawn out process. He laughed as he stated, “The whole process was painfully long and it took over two years; it should not have taken that long.” After getting the plan approved for the first time, the village endured various law suits that landed them in some financial problems. The village definitely suffered, but in the end Mayor Milne said he was just relieved to get past the adversity and have the plan approved. Now, after all the struggling, Dunkin Donuts is almost here!
