Undoubtedly residents have seen the flyers pinned up around town about an upcoming event and, thanks to the Annual Cougar Classic Boys Basketball Tournament even more people know about Lima Primary School kindergartener Austin Blodgett and his battle against Alagille Syndrome.

Area residents can have an evening of fun and help out Blodgett in his battle at the Winter on the Green, An Evening at Mendon Golf Club to Benefit Austin Blodgett, on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 7 p.m. to midnight at Mendon Golf Club, 226 Mendon-Ionia Road. The event is organized by the MOMS Club of Honeoye Falls Lima.

Blodgett was diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome, a rare, inherited disorder in which bile flow from the liver is decreased and there are fewer than normal bile ducts. The syndrome can affect virtually every part of a patient’s body from their liver and digestive system to their circulatory, pulmonary and skeletal systems and brain and it is a difficult disorder to treat since no two cases are alike.

The Winter on the Green event will feature music by The Linears, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, coffee and cash bar, a 50/50 raffle, and a Silent Auction.

The auction features such items as a ½ share CSA at Bubbaloo Farm, six 1-on-1 sessions with Mendon Personal Trainer, Ravenwood Golf outing, six premium box seats at a Red Wings game, painting, a one-year membership to Seneca Park Zoo, a one-year Brooks Gun Club membership, two passes, two t-shirts and two pairs of socks to Altitude Trampoline Park, a one-year Rochester Skateboarding Park membership, a doe target and goose and turkey caller, a three-month RAC for Women membership, a Nerium basket, a drone (valued at $160), an autographed Jimmy Johnson NASCAR shirt, a gift certificate to Bodywork Kneaded, a POSH basket, a Doorbell Vet basket, a gift certificate to Mane on Main, a screen repair gift certificate from iPad Rehab, a taste of the Finger Lakes basket, tickets to a show at the Auditorium Theatre, jewelry from Christina Romig and Company, artisan pieces and many other items as donations were still coming in as of press time. In addition, other donations are coming from Mobile Graphics, At Home with Wellness, Hunt Hollow, Bears Playgrounds, Lima Fire Department, Mendon Fire Department and John Welch Enterprise.

Tickets to the event are $25 ($30 at the door) and can be purchased by visiting www.eveningonthegreen.eventbrite.com or if you can’t attend but would still like to help Austin Blodgett and his family, the following site has been created for donations: https://www.youcaring.com/austin-blodgett-501550.
