The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District broke ground on major renovations that will be occurring at all of the District’s facilities. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2020.

Renovations include the Transportation and Facilities Department being merged on a single site at the existing bus garage. This will allow the renovation of the High School parking lots and the main entrance to provide enhanced security and safety.

The Phase II Capital Project also includes extensive masonry restoration to the historic section of the original High School building. The High School will also house new tennis courts, a contemporary cafeteria, modern art classrooms, enhanced technology labs, new HVAC (Heat, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) control systems, moisture mitigation, upgraded light fixtures in select locations, and additional water bottle filling stations.

The Manor School (grades 2-5) will receive a significant renovation. The art, nursing, and counseling offices will be renovated and expanded. Enhancements will be made to the main offices, fire alarms, and public address systems. Complete classroom renovations including bathroom, paint, storage, HVAC, and select power upgrades will also be made. The addition of a flexible learning lab, new playground equipment, enhanced safety features, and mechanical and ventilation upgrades will be found throughout the facility. Expanded classrooms will include vocal music, the flexible learning space, and the school cafeteria at Manor.

At the District’s Middle School (grades 6-8) a second multi-purpose turf field will be installed. This location will house both baseball and softball fields as well as a large rectangular field. The District’s Auditorium will be modernized with presentation and sound enhancements.

At Lima Primary (K-1) select exterior brick reconstruction will be completed, renovations will be made to the main office, and nurses suite and selective carpet replacement in key rooms will be completed. An elevator to the second floor will be added. Mechanical improvements to air quality and stormwater drainage will be completed.

“I would like to say thank you to our community and the citizens who voted on the Phase II referendum in May of 2016. This is such an exciting time for Honeoye Falls-Lima to be renovating our campus as we begin to celebrate fifty years of the merged school districts of Honeoye Falls and Lima,” said Superintendent Gene Mancuso. “Since 1969 HF-L has been a beacon of strength in the community and I am honored to be part of this groundbreaking. This is an exciting time for our students, our district, and our community.”

In May of 2016, District voters approved this capital project expenditure of $29,986,084. This investment maximizes the building aid received from New York State and uses more than four million dollars in capital reserves. The remaining local share of this capital project will be funded through an anticipated increase of $63 per average homeowner over the next three years.

“On behalf of the board, we would like to thank the community for supporting Phase II of our Long Range District Facilities Plan,” said Amy West, HF-L Board of Education President. “We are excited to break ground on our new instructional, transportation, and athletic facilities.”

Phase I of the Long Range Capital Project was completed in 2013. Phase I addressed renovations and infrastructure improvements at all of the buildings, site work to improve safety and traffic flow, the addition of space for the arts at the Middle School, athletic field upgrades and additions, the introduction of solar panels and other energy efficiencies, and the redesign of science and technology classrooms, as well as the purchase of related equipment and furniture.

The Phase II Capital Project is focused on protecting the community’s investment in its school buildings and grounds, enhancing the safety and security of these facilities, improving energy efficiency, reducing ongoing maintenance costs and meeting the needs of the instructional and activity program for the years ahead.
