Lima Rotary Club is one of the supporters of “An Evening of Hope, An Event of Inspiration on Wednesday, August 23 from 6-9 p.m. at ELIM Life Church, 1679 Dalton Road in Lima.
Embrace Fitness and Health, a holistic fitness and health business focused on Education, & Empowerment for Transformation is the primary sponsor of the event and Rotary District 7120, Genesee Valley Chimney Sweep, Jim Roggow and other generous community supporters are helping to bring this event to the community.
“An Evening of Hope, An Event of Inspiration” is created to address stigmas that surround mental illness and addiction while celebrating the significance of hope! This event is focused on promoting education, empowerment and resources for people, struggling with their illness, caregivers, first responders and anyone wishing to participate in an uplifting and dynamic celebration featuring Hope!
The keynote speaker for The Evening of Hope is Eric C Weaver, founder of Overcoming the Darkness. Eric published his book “Overcoming the Darkness: Shining Light on Mental Illness, Trauma, and Suicide for Law Enforcement,” on mental health, cumulative stress, stigmas, depression, suicide prevention and awareness. His seminar by the same title has been taught to over 35,000 law enforcement officers and other emergency services personnel across the country. Eric is a retired sergeant with the Rochester NY Police Department (RPD) where he served for twenty years from 1985-2005.
There will be a performance by singer-songwriter recording artist Amanda Lee Peers. Amanda is a singer/songwriter from Rochester, NY. Dubbed as “old soul with a new swagger”, her musical style is soulful with modern touches of hip-hop and R&B.
There will be a duet performance by local singers, Jericho Banker, and Madison Fleming.
Inspirational Guest Speakers will share their experiences from a variety of perspectives, including living with a Mental Illness and/or Addiction Diagnoses and the significance of Hope!
The Evening of Hope will also include the Gallery of Hope, “A Community’s Vision”; with resources provided by onsite Community Agencies. The program will conclude with a speaker panel discussion including Dr. Christine Steerman, PhD, Clinical Psychologist.
