The Lima chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will once again be honoring Veterans and active military personnel in November with a flag display in front of the Lima Town Hall.

For a $5 donation, personalized tags can be created to list a soldier’s name, rank, branch of service and theatre to be honored. These tags will be placed in waterproof sleeves, attached to American flags and then placed on display between Nov. 6 – Nov. 13. Members of the community are encouraged to visit the display and take pictures of their sponsored flags.

The donations collected from the sale of the flags will help fund various programs the Ska-Hase-Ga-O, DAR chapter provides for area Veterans and active service men and women. These programs include such things as creating blessing bags for homeless Veterans, sending care packages to troops overseas and sending care packages to VA hospitals.

The Ska-Hase-Ga-O chapter is part of the National DAR organization, a lineage-base service organization for women who have a Patriot (male or female) who were involved in our countries efforts towards independence during the American Revolution. The DAR organization promotes historical preservation, education and patriotism. New members are always welcome.

For more information about the DAR or to sponsor a flag for the Veteran’s Day display in November, please contact the Ska-Hase-Ga-O chapter at skahasegao@gmail.com. Donations can also be sent along with a soldier’s name, rank, branch of service and theatre to: Ska-Hase-Ga-O, PO Box 102 Avon, NY 14414.
