The Scottsville Family Fun Festival on Saturday, August 19, 2017 will feature a full day and night of activities and fun for the whole family.

The festival is at Johnson Park on Browns Avenue. It kicks off with a Kids Fishing Derby at 7 a.m. on the banks of Oatka Creek at Canawaugus Park on Rochester Street in Scottsville.

Activities then shift to Johnson Park with the SkivStrong 5K Challenge Race starting at 9 a.m. The race was renamed in memory of longtime Scottsville resident and Wheatland-Chili Boys Varsity Soccer coach Mike Skivington who lost his battle against brain cancer this past January. He was known as “Skiv” by his players and fellow coaches. Proceeds of the race will go to the Mike Skivington Memorial Scholarship Fund, a scholarship that has been set up in his memory at Wheatland-Chili. The race will start and finish at Johnson Park with a loop around the village. It is open to both runners and walkers. There will be t-shirts for the first 100 entrants along with awards and prizes. Participants can register in one of three ways: by mail with an entry fee of $18 if postmarked by August 15 or $23 if postmarked after August 15; online at Runsignup.com with an entry fee of $18 plus a processing fee or in person at the advance registration and packet pickup day on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Scottsville Smith-Warren American Legion Post from 4:30-6 p.m. with a fee of $18. The entry fee is $23 on the day of the race but those registering on the day of the race must register at 7:30 a.m. at Johnson Park. Youth team discounts are available, but someone from the youth team must call Wheatland Recreation at 889-1553. Information on the race and registration is also posted on Facebook.

A Classic Car Show begins at 10 a.m. Volleyball tournaments also begin at 10 a.m. Craft and food vendors open up at 11 a.m. The Awards for the Fishing Derby will be presented at noon. The Stilla Dance Performance will be at 1 p.m. Bounce Houses and kids’ games and activities run from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Lyin Eyes, an Eagles Tribute band will perform from 6:30-9:30 p.m. A drawing for the Raking in the Dough raffle will be held at 8 p.m. A fireworks display will start at 9:30 p.m.

There will be food and drink vendors and a Chicken Barbecue.

The festival is presented by the Village of Scottsville Family Fun Festival Committee and local organizations. Don’t Miss It!
