Sentinel financial reporting intern Michael LaMarca was among two Alfred University students who were recognized for their superior accomplishments by the Rochester NY Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI). For more than 80 years, the FEI has been connecting senior-level financial executives by serving the needs and interests of its members. The founding purpose of FEI was to define the profession, exchange ideas about best practices, educate members and others, and work with the government to improve the general economy.
The FEI Graduating Senior Award was given to LaMarca, a senior finance major at Alfred University. Michael is President of the AU Student Managed Investment Fund club, where AU undergraduate students invest a portion of the AU endowment and report their performance to the AU Trustees.
The FEI Scholarship was awarded to Cassandra Mitchell, a senior accounting student who will be studying a fifth year in preparation for taking the CPA exam. Cassandra is Vice President of the AU Financial Management Association, and has been extremely active in student government and residence life.
“Cassandra Mitchell and Mike LaMarca are two of our best students. In addition to excelling academically, they are active leaders of our Student Managed Investment Fund as well as Financial Management Association. I am delighted that their accomplishments were recognized by Financial Executives International,” said Mr. Mark Lewis, Assistant Professor of Finance and Information Systems, and Tredennick Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies.
