Teens and Adults are encouraged to attend some upcoming, free programs that are part of Mendon Public Library’s Summer Reading Program: Build a Better World.

On Tuesday, August 8 from 7-8 pm, Dr. Alexis Vogt of MCC’s Engineering Technologies Department will speak about Photonics. Dr. Vogt will describe Rochester’s opportunities in Photonics as well as the education and career opportunities for all who are interested in this growing field. The program is free and open to all teens and adults. Please call to register, 624-6067.

That same week, teens and adults looking to learn about nutrition are encouraged to attend a program on Thursday night, August 10 from 7-8 pm. Need to know how to plan your daily meals? Want to learn what food is best for breakfast and what food is best for dinner? Interested in learning about junk food and what it does to the body? Or, always wonder about what those nutrition labels really mean? Join Mido Zelenjakovic, Founding Partner and Fitness Director /Trainer at the Rochester School of Fitness, to find out some answers. This program is free, but, we ask that you preregister, 624-6067.

On Monday, August 14 from 6:30-7:30, come learn how to prepare for the Total Solar Eclipse. Join the Astronomy Section of the Rochester Academy of Science’s Joe Altieri to learn about the big event happening one week from then, the Total Solar Eclipse. “This is going to be a huge event for the country,” Mr. Altieri said. “We are running simple presentations on what an eclipse is with Q&A sessions.” This is a free program for anyone interested in learning more.
