The Sentinel’s own Tim and Deb Smith were featured on Channel 13’s “Bright Spot” last Wednesday, February 12th. The stated purpose of the “Bright Spot” is to present “a positive story highlighting individuals or community initiatives making a significant, uplifting impact on the local area, often focusing on acts of kindness, community service, or inspiring stories of perseverance.”
Anchor Matt Molloy said, “Finally, our Bright Spot tonight shines on making a difference. For the past decade, Tim and Deb Smith have been shining their own Bright Spots across the region. The couple has volunteered hundreds of hours as unpaid feature writers for the Mendon-Honeoye Falls-Lima Sentinel. The Smith’s cover everything from animal rescue organizations to Native American historical sites to new local businesses opening. 13-WHAM gives a shoutout to Tim and Deb for the incredible work they do!”
Feedback from the community included HF-L Superintendent Gene Mancuso saying, “This is great! Very much deserved!” and HF-L Athletic Director Brian Donohue adding, “Great stuff and well deserved! Congrats!”
Retired Chaplin Charles Grimm from St. Andrew’s Chapel (in the Rush hamlet of Industry) wrote, “Hi Tim & Deb, What a pleasant surprise when you both appeared on the Bright Spot as we watched our regular Channel 13 news. It was so well done. You deserve the recognition with all your “bright spot” articles.
What fond memories I have of our conversations in the Rush Library and in front of Industry School. I have followed you ever since with your marvelous writing adventures. Blessings to you both in your important contributions to our community. You are on our radar! Keep up your outstanding journalism work!
Congratulations! Buzz and Joan Grimm”
