The Village of Lima has begun a Capital Improvement Project to repair and update the drive systems which control the supply and delivery of the water to the Village and some areas within the Town.
Mayor Carl Luft reported that the total cost would be $388,000.00 and Village taxpayers would not see any increase as a result since 90% of this cost will be paid for by the Village Reserve Funds. The remaining 10% will be paid for by the Town of Lima, which shares part of the water service.
Mayor Luft explained that “these drive systems which are located in the water pump house on Rochester Street are over 30 years old and are constantly failing and obviously are not as energy efficient as the new ones.”
The project consists of installing new, modern pumps, new energy efficient variable drive controls, new plumbing and electrical systems and replacing the outdated telephone alarm system with a more reliable and cost efficient sonar system.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
