This year the Honeoye Falls Festival on the Green (June 16-18) will feature the artwork of two students from the Honeoye Falls Lima High School.

Phil Ackerman designed this year’s 5K race t-shirt and Dalton Recktenwald designed a first ever Festival on the Green poster, prints of which will be available for purchase at the Festival. The students were encouraged in their designs by HFL high school art teacher Kelly Recktenwald who worked with the Festival committee and coordinated a contest for the shirt and poster designs. Over forty HFL students were involved with the artwork contest.

The organizer of the 5k race, Andy Smith said the shirt and poster design contest are a great way to involve students and encourage their input. Smith also indicated that there has been a long term commitment from HFL National Honor Society students who assist with activities and operations at the Festival and at the 5k race. This year, Natalie Northrup is the student coordinator of National Honor Society students assisting with the Festival.

The 5k t-shirts are available to the first 80 runners or walkers who register for the Festival on the Green 5k. The race goes off Friday June 16 at 6 p.m. at Monroe Street Park to mark the start of this year’s Festival.
