The sport of Rugby has been growing by leaps and bounds in the United States and is about to come home to Honeoye Falls-Lima.
The spring of 2016 will mark the first season of play for the u19 High School rugby team in HF-L. As rugby in New York is not a sanctioned High School sport, teams from around the state compete as clubs within their region. HF-L falls in the western region with teams from Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse. Practices and games will run from March thru the spring culminating with a state championship made up of teams from the four NY regions.
The team is open to student athletes from any area high school and there are plans for future youth touch rugby programs for non-high school age youth. The team will have a mix of new and experienced players as there are local teens already traveling to other communities to play for their teams. To join in the excitement visit www.hflrugby.org. The club is currently seeking athletes and adult volunteers who are interested in spreading their passion for the sport.
