Honeoye Falls native and singer/songwriter David Maloney will return to Honeoye Falls for a new CD release concert on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Honeoye Falls.
Maloney’s new album is called “My Father’s Shoulders” and was 27th out of 100 on the Folk Music Americana, DJ Listserve service for the month of June when it was released nationally.
Maloney is a 1961 graduate of Honeoye Falls High School and was inducted into the Honeoye Falls-Lima Alumni Hall of Fame in 2012. He has returned to the area for annual concerts for the past several years.
“My Father’s Shoulders” is the latest release from Maloney, a veteran West Coast songwriter and performer. This compelling new work features ten selections nurtured from the deep, rich source of an accomplished song-poet, exploring the fundamental themes of commitment, mortality and the human spirit. This album comes on the heels of a serious health challenge for Maloney in 2015, which he addresses both reflectively and humorously.
Maloney has performed for over 45 years in the nowlegendary and beloved West Coast folk duo Reilly & Maloney. At the same time he has maintained a steady presence as a solo performer and recording artist with his own true voice as a powerful and engaging singer/songwriter – this is his 11th solo recording. In his own words: “My Father’s Shoulders was born in darkness and blossomed in the light of love.”
Among the 10 songs on the CD are Weary World, His Irish Heart, My Father’s Shoulders and Memorial Day.
John Weingart (WPRB-FM Princeton, NJ) describes the album as “a collection of songs of wonderful musical and emotional clarity and grace.”
