Visit West Bloomfield Historical Society, 8966 Routes 5 and 20 in West Bloomfield, at 7 pm on Tuesday, September 15, to learn about “Our Community Treasure – Boughton Park.”
Outdoorsman and photographer Douglas Kostyk will present images and stories of the Park’s natural beauty and wildlife. Originally a Town of Fairport reservoir, the Park is now jointly owned by the Towns of East Bloomfield, Victor, and West Bloomfield and open by permit to Town residents. This public program is accessible and free of charge. Society exhibits will also be open starting at 6:30 pm. Information is at wbhsny.org.
Kostyk has spent years visiting the Park several times a week to hike, ski, canoe, and capture images of the natural world. He is a member of the Ontario County Rope Rescue team and an assistant chief with the Ionia Volunteer Fire Company. In support of that work, he often explores state land well off the trails to understand the terrain and access through the forest.
