Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty is asking residents for help on the anniversary regarding the death of Tammy Jo Alexander.
The Sheriff’s Office has persistently investigated the death of Tammy Jo Alexander since the initial call regarding the crime occurred forty-five years ago. On November 2, 2024, Tammy Jo would have turned sixty-one years old.
Thousands of leads have been generated over the past forty-five years; however, none have led to the identity of her killer.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek the community’s assistance in resolving this case. At right is the picture of Tammy Jo Alexander who was murdered on November 9, 1979 in rural Caledonia, NY on USHWY 20 approximately one half mile southwest of Route 5. Tammy Jo was wearing the following clothing, Tan corduroys, multi colored plaid cotton/polyester shirt, blue socks, brown ripple sole shoes, red nylon lined windbreaker with black stripes down the arms. The windbreaker was made by “Auto Sports, Inc.” Anyone familiar with this company, please contact us immediately. Jewelry included, one silver necklace with three (3) small turquoise stones, two (2) key chains, one a heart the other the key to the heart.
“As we approach another anniversary of this tragic event, we urge the community at large to provide any information that could lead to the identity of the person(s) responsible for the homicide of Tammy Jo Alexander,” the Sheriff’s office states. “It is not too late to provide her family with closure, as other similar cases have been solved in the course of this investigation.
