Local teen and active Girl Scout, Ivy Yates, has been working hard in 2020 to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award.

As part of the project, Ivy created a craft cart from scratch for use at the Library. Ivy hopes that her craft cart will be a great place for kids of all ages to find creating materials when they’re visiting the library.

Ivy hosted a “Slime Time” virtual program for children as part of the library’s Summer Reading Program. Ten kids joined Ivy on Facebook Live to make some fantastic, fantasy slime.

Ivy hopes to run additional virtual crafting times in the fall. She has been collecting recycled milk gallon containers for a winter project that will be unveiled in the library in 2021. To learn more, sign up for our enewsletter at https://mendonlibrary.org/what-we-offer/newsletter-signup.

The Girl Scout website says, “Gold Award Girl Scouts are the dreamers and the doers who take ‘make the world a better place’ to the next level. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the mark of the truly remarkable—proof that not only can she make a difference, but that she already has.” For more information, please visit: https://www.girlscouts.org
