Matt Grant and his family. Submitted photo

The Fifth Annual Winter on the Green is Saturday, January 25, 2020. All proceeds are benefitting the Grant family. Matt Grant is a lifelong Lima and West Bloomfield resident and he, along with his wife, Alisha, are active foster parents in the community. They have fostered many children, including two daughters that they adopted. The Grants both work for the Department of Social Services, but in April 2019, Matt fell ill with pneumonia. However, continued unexplained illnesses puzzled healthcare providers, until he was eventually diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

This cancer forms in the white blood cells affecting the body’s ability to fight infection, leads to bone marrow destruction, and potential bone loss. Matt immediately began grueling chemotherapy to prevent further spreading. In October 2019, Matt underwent a stem cell transplant to combat his cancer. Matt’s cancer is associated with lifelong chemotherapy, potential experimental treatments, hospitalizations, and overwhelming medical costs, in addition to his inability to work, and the loss of precious time with his family.

The Winter on the Green is a fantastic, fun-filled night of music and dancing, with wonderful appetizers and desserts, all the while supporting the Grant family this year. Tickets, beautiful raffle baskets, 50/50, silent auction, and a cash bar will all raise money for the Grants. Please join area residents at the Mendon Golf Club on Saturday, January 25 from 7 pm to midnight. Advanced sale tickets can be purchased at The Cottage of Mendon, iPad Rehab, or wotg@eventbrite.com for $25 or $30 at the door.
