ROC the Day 2016 is the annual “day of giving” sponsored by Rochester’s local United Way. Each year for the past four years we have raised thousands of dollars from generous people in our community to support the HF-L Education Fund. To date, the Education Fund has awarded more than $12K to staff in the forms of grants for our children.
Barb Salter and the Middle School Music Program received funding to commission a beautiful piece of music that was heard for the first time at the Spring concert! The High School library received funding for a “Maker’s Space” and Barb Rose at Lima Primary was awarded a grant for outdoor classroom research resources. Lima Primary has also received funding for building Lego’s and Middle School recently received funding to acquire Wiffitt chairs to be used around the building.
Why give to the HF-L Education Fund?
While the district budget continues to support the fundamentals of a great education at HF-L, the Education Fund provides teachers with grants to support programs and initiatives that fall outside the financial reach of the school district’s budget.
The HF-L Education Fund is committed to promoting innovative academic opportunities for our students. As explained by HF-L Staff, the Education Fund raises money for grants to Staff for innovative, creative and diverse educational initiatives that go above and beyond our school district’s requirements.
On Tuesday, November 29th please go to www.roctheday.org and select Honeoye Falls-Lima Education Fund as the donor option. You can choose to honor a teacher by adding his/her name in the comment column. The teacher will be notified and given a certificate to display.
