Moving to a larger venue this year with the high school auditorium undergoing renovation as part of the district’s Capital Project, the Honeoye Falls-Lima High School Unplugged Concert did not feel lost in the spacious District Auditorium at the Middle School. Indeed, it might have drawn an even bigger audience than normal on Friday, June 20.
The Unplugged Concert featured performances by several HF-L high school students, many of them seniors performing in that auditorium for the last time.
Senior Jenna Quinn and junior Mikey Ruff were the emcees for the event. The Fates, a group of girls who played the Fates in HF-L’s musical production of Hadestown this past spring, opened the concert with, appropriately enough, Opening Up. Kate Gabrielsen and Will Gabrielsen performed Hey Driver. Madison Fleming sang Natural Woman. Quinn Brooks and Liam Dailor’s duet was a medley of songs. Tali Camobreco and Sarah McLaughlin performed Thus Always to Tyrants. The trio of Mady Etter, McLaughlin and Paige Moscicki sang Paper Rings. Raegan Banker and Peterah Deisenroth’s duet was These Foolish Things. Zach Boehm and Moscicki performed Lily’s Eyes from the musical The Secret Garden. Lita Brady played Gigue Partita 1. Quinn and Amelia Somers sang I Will Never Leave You from the musical Side Show. Sophie Stanley soloed on Liquid Smooth. Fleming and Ava Youngblut performed Dancing Queen, the stripped down acoustic version of ABBA’s hit by Lizzy McAlpine. Camobreco soloed on the song The Bog Bodies. Fleming, Quinn and Somers joined together for First Burn. Ben Dieter, Sam Roth and Rhys Wolfe performed two straight songs Foxy Lady and In Bloom. Sophia Jacopille-Bornheimer, Brady and Moscicki teamed for the song Lovely. Twins Maeve and Claire Connors sang Butterfly Effect. Fleming and Banker did a duet of the song Creep. Kate Gabrielsen, Will Gabrielsen, Taber Gloor and Kaylee Henshaw combined on the song Wide Open Spaces. Fleming, Quinn, Somers and Bria Torpey closed the show with Landslide.
Maeve Connors designed the concert’s program. Lita Brady did the sound while Banker and Deisenroth were on the stage crew.
