For the second year in a row, second-grade students at Honeoye Falls-Lima Manor School were able to show off their knowledge about the United States and celebrate Flag Day with a patriotic show.

The participating classes this year were Ms. Balseca’s, Mrs. Cummings’, Mrs. Erikson’s, Mrs. Filiatrault’s, Mrs. Fleming’s, Mrs. Graney’s, Mrs. Leonard’s, Mrs. Lynah’s and Mrs. Murphy’s.

With George Washington (played by Alessandro Snoddy-Morales) helping two students who stumble into the performance unwittingly (played by Ahren Babigian and Lilliana Creager), the second grade students sang a number of patriotic songs, recited small portions of famous speeches such as Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and shared a little bit of knowledge about the different military services (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard) and the giant role played by women throughout U.S. History (thanks to students portraying Betsy Ross, Sacajawea and Susan B. Anthony) with an appearance by Lady Liberty (played by Danielle Bartnett) who shared Emma Lazarus’ poem that is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor. The students also showed their appreciation for those men and women who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military.

The students sang “You’re A Grand Old Flag”, “The United States”, “The Star Spangled Banner”, “My Country Tis of Thee”, “America, America”, “Yankee Doodle”, “Thank You Soldiers”, “America The Beautiful” “Famous Americans”, and “God Bless The USA”.
