Children visiting the Mendon Public Library over the last few months have been thrilled to discover a new train table (pictured above) in the Children’s area. The Kade Project gave a train table to the library over five years ago and, recently donated a new train table to replace the original, well-loved play item.
Kade Edward O’Brien was a life-long resident of Honeoye Falls who excelled at athletics and did well in academics, rapidly distinguishing himself as a leader among his peers. After graduating from HF-L in 2004, Kade joined the Marine Corps and participated in two deployments to Iraq. He served as Convoy Commander on his second deployment and was responsible for over 70 armored vehicles and over 100 men. His leadership, discipline, and determination saved several lives in combat conditions.
Once his commitment to the Marine Corps had been fulfilled, Kade decided to pursue a college education. January of 2010, Kade enthusiastically welcomed his son, Noah, into the world. Tragically, Kade was in a motorcycle accident April 10, 2011, and passed away the next day. He was a man who enjoyed life, loved his family and country, and will be remembered for his lasting legacy through the lives he continues to touch.
In Kade O’Brien’s honor and memory, “The Kade Project” was developed to provide aid to the community, youth, and military personnel on foreign soil. In the spirit of giving back to the community, representatives of the Kade Project have generously given to the Mendon Public Library and other organizations.
Noah’s Corner at the Mendon Public Library incorporates a car, grocery store/lemonade stand, and other early learning manipulatives. Each day, numerous young patrons enjoy gathering to learn and play with the toys that The Kade Project have gifted to the library.
