Just like always, the Mendon Public Library will be offering a Summer Reading Program (SRP) this summer. Our “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program will run from June 22 – August 11, 2022. Kids, teens, and adults will have reading incentives to keep them engaged in reading throughout the summer.
The library will also be hosting a full slate of activities. We have programs planned for all ages. The kickoff event is a magic show for all ages, “Magic, Music, and Games with Amazing Magic Joe” set for Wednesday, June 22, 6:30 -7:30 pm outside the library. Please check out the list of offerings at mendonlibrary.org or pick up the Summer Reading brochure when you’re at the library. Sign-ups for all Summer Reading programs will begin June 15, 2022.
Starting June 22, kids up to 12 years old can request their SRP Reading Log, Weekly Bingo Board, and Weekly Grab & Go Craft Kit. Throughout the summer, kids record their reading in the reading log. A completed reading log entitles them to a native plant and Dipper Dollar! In addition, they can win a button each week they complete the Bingo Board.
Likewise, Teens can enter a drawing for one of four $25 Visa cards by submitting simple Teen Book Review entries for each book they read. Teens completing the weekly Bingo Board will be entered to win that prize and others. Teen Grab & Go Craft Kits will also be available each week.
Adults earn a chance for a $50 HFMP Gift Card by submitting simple Adult Book Review entries for each book they read. Adults completing the weekly Bingo Board will be entered to win that prize and others. Adult Grab & Go Craft Kits will also be available each week.
We are very thankful for the support of Honeoye Falls Market Place, Mendon Meadows Market Place, M&T Bank, Dipper Dan’s, and the Friends of the Mendon Public Library. We are also indebted to our wonderful volunteers who helped assemble over 1,050 Craft Kits for our community to enjoy this summer.
Our recent community survey indicated people would like the library to stay open on Saturdays in the summer. So, with support from the May K. Houck Foundation and the Friends of Mendon Public Library, we are glad to announce we will be able to do it this year! Summer Saturday hours will be from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm from June 25- August 27, though we will be closed July 2-4 for the holiday weekend.
